Charity Party - March 2003
The Brief
A formal dinner followed by a club night for three hundred people to be held in a London Hotel. The emphasis must be on class and style to meet the high expectations of the clientele. The event is being held for charity so the budget must be kept in check.
The Venue
The chosen venue was the Copthorne Tara Hotel in Kensington. The event was to be split in two, with the formal dinner in one banqueting suite, and the other suite being transformed into the nightclub.
Uptown Events set the theme of the night immediately starting right at the entrance. A majestic walkway into the building along a red carpet lined with gas flame light created an instant mood of elegance that was to continue thorough out the building. Floor to ceiling draping, temporary carpeting, advanced MAC lighting technology, gas flambeaus and projections of the company logo around the walls inside the cafeteria all contributed to the effect.
Theming
'The first banqueting room was transformed, the tables were draped in gold brocade linen, which fell to the floor. These were complimented with matching Gold Serviettes.
Four foot flower displays were placed on each table and were then lit using our very own pinspotting system.
Plasma screens were placed around the room to show a video during dinner and for live coverage of the speeches.
During dinner Tenors Incognito made a surprise performance to ‘wow’ the guests with there unique brand of humour and opera.
Upstairs guests were ushered along a red carpet, past velvet ropes and were greeted by a sturdy doorman suitably attired in black tie, and a transvestite door-picker.
The room was covered from floor to ceiling in fibre optic star cloth, and a state of the art sound and light show was installed.
Nightclub style furniture was bought in to further enhance the theme, as well as a cocktail bar complete with flare barman.
Two professional dancers performed on lit podiums either side of the stage, whilst our in-house DJ The Funky Geezer span the tunes.
“The nightclub was stunning and we were delighted with the overall effect, we appreciate all of your help and advise, and would be delighted to recommend you in the future” The Committee Chairperson.
