Law Publishing Company 2005 Christmas Party

The Brief

Early in 2005 I was asked by our repeat client to find a London venue which would have that ‘wow factor’, meet their budget and cater for up to 200 guests. After much searching and a few site visits I finally showed them The Riverbank Park Plaza, which is located on the south bank of the Thames – sandwiched in-between Westminster and Vauxhall.

It took a lot of confidence and trust in me, and imagination from the client as; the venue was launched in April 2005 and images in the initial proposal were artist’s impressions and the site visit (prior to the launch date of the venue) was to view a middle – final stage building site! Even back then in a very cold beginning of 2005 – the social team at the company saw the potential of the venue, the function space and my ability to organize and produce a fantastic event.

Once again, the Christmas party was a black tie affair – with the entire company looking superb, the room was simply – but elegantly dressed. There was no real need for major theme production – for fear of drawing eyes away from the primary attraction to the events space. The primary attraction being a floor to ceiling enormous sheet glass wall – which dominated the large function suite, and indeed the views which lay beyond it – simply some of the best views anywhere in the world! Guests jaws dropped as they entered the main dining space of the function suite – following a champagne reception, with background music supplied by the companies own choir large doors were dramatically drawn back to reveal the dining room, containing the elegantly laid up tables with beautiful table centres the premier disco set on staging and the awesome sight of London at Christmas time – the river in all it’s full glory, the gothic architecture of Westminster to the right and the numerous views left along the embankment to the unmistakable sight of the dominant MI6 building and Vauxhall Bridge. “Simply some of the best views anywhere in the world!”

Following the champagne reception, the format for the evening was a short informal speech followed by a sumptuous dinner of a carefully picked three-course menu, a more formal presentation and company awards followed by the fantastic in house company choir - which led on to the disco, until the early hours.
