Batmitzvah in North West London

The Brief

When our client came to us with the brief for their daughter’s Batmitzvah we knew we had a free rein to work with. They didn’t necessarily know exactly what they wanted; but they knew what they didn’t want. The only criteria we were given was that they did not want a traditional sit down party.

The Venue

Being held in June Uptown Events took advantage of the beautiful summer weather and installed a marquee in the clients’ garden to play host to the party. To avoid the typical traditional party set up we thought we’d go completely mad and installed funky furniture, pink sofas and plush square stools as well as white perspex tables and high bar stools. Pink and white colouring was used throughout the marquee and we used a white dance floor with pink and lavender lighting effects all night.

At the last minute we decided to install air conditioning units due to the heat wave. This proved to be a little harder than normal due to the timescale however it was managed and definitely played a crucial role for all the guests!

The Party

As soon as the guests entered the marquee in the afternoon they realised this was no normal Batmitzvah party. The Batmitzvah girl had her name projected on to the dance floor and the walls of the marquee, there were pink cushions and matching table decorations spread around the room with flowers to compliment and a kosher pick and mix sweet bar set up at one end of the dance floor. The kosher sushi bar proved a great success with guests lining up for more whilst watching the masters at work. To accompany the sushi performance Uptown Events imported some of their finest flaring cocktail barmen, set them up with their own bar and equipment and let them do what they do best. The guests were at a loss as to which masters to watch!

Once all culinary needs were seen to the real performances began. Two of our most engaging dancers made an appearance on the dance floor, went on to teach the children their routines and got all the adults on their feet. Once everyone was in the party mood our event manager gave the signal and out came Gwen Stefani and her dancers to tumultuous applause while the crown went wild! After some of her best numbers the whole marquee was on its feet singing and dancing along with gusto. For her next act Ms Stefani required a quick change and out stepped Christina Aguilera, shaking her thing and being the diva we all know and love.

After these show stopping performances the party was set to carry on until the early hours. Everyone had a great time and Uptown Events managed to give the clients everything they could have hoped for and more! With the objective achieved and all the guests commenting on how original the party was our job was done and done with style. Needless to say all the youngsters of North West London now had a new standard to compete with for their up coming Bar and Batmitzvahs!
